Description: The Market at Bissel Gardens is located at a community garden in the North Bronx.
The Farmers Market at Bissel is NY State Agriculture and Market –certified. We are also members of the Farmers Market Federation.
Seasonal, (July – mid-November).the market is run by several Bissel members and partners on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Fresh-picked NY State produce – fruit, vegetables and flowers-some of which are grown in the gardens The Market is located at the end of the garden path at Baychester Avenue. Cooking demos and healthy foods consultants present at the Market throughout the summer. The Market accepts WICs and Senior Farmers Market Nutrution checks.
In 2009, Bissel Gardens began a program to assist Bronx youth in the establishing of student-run farmers markets. Student-run Farmers Markets are run in the Castle Hill and Westchester Square areas of the Bronx.
